When you think about your spiritual connection to God, do you talk the talk? I think most of us do. We call ourselves Christians. We say The Lord’s Prayer, The Nicene Creed and other familiar refrains. We tell our children that yeahhh, they have to go to church AND Sunday School.”

Do you also walk the walk?  Many of us go to weekly worship and Adult Sunday School Some of us do the occasional sprint, and others of us run marathons by volunteering for the vestry, ushering, building Habitat Houses and leading guilds and fundraisers. 

What about following Christ?  How closely do you follow --every day, every hour?  At work ? At play?  Or are you more comfortable following and observing from a distance?  My guess is that most of us have good intentions, but find ourselves like Zacchaeus, hiding in a tree for a sneak peek. 

Soon you will have the opportunity to reflect on these questions and your life in Christ.   This year our annual Lenten series begins Feb. 13.  The new ChristCare Ministry will debut and provide the Wednesday night Lenten Study.  We will study the book, Following at a Distance, by Dr. Kimberly Dunnam Reisman.  In addition to discussing, reflecting, praying, challenging and socializing you might even enjoy a piece of chocolate or two.  That’s right.  If you so choose, you don’t have to give up anything for Lent except for an hour every week for five weeks! We are asking you to scramble down from your tree from Feb. 13- March 12 so that you, like Zacchaeus, can entertain Christ.

If you like package deals, we’ve got a bonus offer.  Join us for Stations of the Cross at 5:30 followed by a quick dinner in Gable Hall ($5 pp/ $15 family max.)  We’ll break into Christ Care Groups and enjoy an hour of Lenten reflection and fellowship.

Childcare will be provided for those who pre-register (please let us know how many children to plan for.)  The Groups will end with compline from the Book of Common Prayer and departure is 7:30- just in time to tuck the young ones into bed.

This study is only for five-weeks in Lent, but we hope it might give you long-term interest in the ChristCare Group Ministry.  We pray that our time together will enrich your journey with Christ.
